I was a footballer player for 18 years. During these years I formed part of 3 teams. Raiders, Hibernians (which I won the league with and went to play champions league with) and then back to Raiders before finishing my career with Kirkop (the last year I player season 2020/2021).
Whilst I was playing football I also obtained the majority of the Football coaching licenses and to date still the only female to have a UEFA A football coaching licence in Malta. Still need the very last one to do (the UEFA PRO Lisence). I coached for 18 years with the final team I coached being the under 19's girls womens team (assistant coach). |
I only stopped because of the explosion of my running/ athletic career. I also hold an athletics level 1 coaching course... had done this whilst studying to become a PE teacher.
So, I am a PE Teacher at the National sports school (yes my life is all sport- haha :) ). Here I teach PE and also a football coach.
During my time as a footballer, I started growing a passion for running and used to include a daily 5k over an above my football training. Slowly I started to increase distances, before I bought my first garmin and started trying to beat my timings, challenging the distances with pace etc...
During COVID, when football stopped I started experimenting with longer distances.
I am a mother of 2 kids. after I had my 2nd child (2016) I decided to join a fitmums group to regain my overall fitness before returning to football. Once I was physically better after a cesarean I returned to running and was introduced to OCR. I used to join some OCR Classes but always refused to participate regularly as my main focus was football at the time. Sharing my running data with the fitmums, they used to constantly encourage me to take part in races... however my stubborn head always said it would be difficult to race at the weekends and play a football match on tuesday. I also introduced Crossfit in my everyday regime and which I still do to date.
As soon as I decided to hang up my boots at football (june 2021), I decided to find myself a running coach and start running in a wiser manner.
Since then... my life turned completely :
• The Grid first time elite October 2021 and won it
• Cross country championships 3rd place
• 10k road running 1st age group December 2021
• MESA 5K first time 1st place March 2022
• Xterra 21k trail-run 1st place October (2021)
• Xterra 21k trail-run 1st place May (2022)
• Xterra 6k train-run 1st place
• Corsa 21k run 1st place
• The gladiator trail and placed 2nd January 2021)
• Spartan stadion race in France 1st place age group (April 2022)
• Crossfit rookie competition organised 1st place May 2022
